Migrant labourers, who were working in West Bengal's Barrackpore district, have decided to walk all the way back home in Bihar's Sheikhpura district. They are hopeful that someone on the road might give them a lift, but if not, they would walk back home, they say.
Balmiki Paswan, one of the labourers that our community correspondent Aparna Dig spoke to says they had registered with the helplines and also approached the local police station. But nothing materialised.
They tried to hire a private vehicle to reach home. But due to the scarcity of money, they gave up on the idea. Apart from women, they also have a child in tow. The labourers say that even if it takes 10-15 days, they will walk and reach home.
